The Skanda Custom Curly Cut is a dry cut customized to YOUR curls. It is cut for visual balance, not precision, like a traditional straight cut. We do not use one method or style of cutting. We use a combination of curly cutting techniques to give you the very best custom cut possible. Our custom cut is just that custom to fit the needs of the individual sitting in our chair. It may be a cutting experience unlike any other you’ve had before, but that’s what makes this haircut different and special—it is a cut built for YOU.

The Skanda Curl Therapy session is a one-on-one session with one of our curl specialist where we map out a maintenance game plan for your curls. We will go through a step by step process on product recommendation and application, as well as defusing and refreshing techniques, so you can successfully take care of your curls at home. We understand every curly person has a different story. When we style out your curls in a Curl Therapy Session we do not manipulate your natural curl pattern. We only style out with a traditional “wash and go” method—so no twist outs or finger coiling.

Some people that sit in our chair have zero knowledge of how to take care of their curls, while others that sit in our chair could teach us a thing or two. Our main objective when you leave your Curl therapy session is for you to know you have a support system—a team that is here cheering you on and here to help you reach your goals whatever they may be. And if we can help simplify your routine at all or teach you one new thing or two, we call that a win!

Come into the salon with your hair styled out like you do everyday. This cut is all about making your styling process easier so don’t change anything before you come in! Also make sure your hair is freshly washed, styled, and dried for your appointment—no day 3 or 4 hair please.

Yes! You should come with clean , but DRY curls so we can cut the shape custom to your curls. This means no brushed out curls, no wet curls, and no buns or pony tails. If you come with your hair dirty, wet, or up, we might have to refuse service for lack of time.

We always prefer to cut dry first, and do the curl therapy second which is why it is so important to come properly prepared for your appointment—with clean, dry hair.

The first time we cut your hair at Salon Skanda we are putting in your custom shape. After cutting we wash and style the hair with this new shape in mind. After it is dry we go back in and refine the cut—making any adjustments for a seamless Custom Curly Shape. this way for your follow up visits, you are able to do maintenance dry cuts without the full curl therapy.
